Furrow accepts unpublished poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art, and comics by undergraduate students from anywhere in the U.S. We award $100 prizes to the top submission in each genre. Selection is competitive. In our last issue, out of over 1,000 submissions from 41 states, we featured work from 44 student authors and artists. We produce a professional-quality, full-color journal each May and feature new work each month on our website, www.furrowmag.org.
We believe in trying new things. We believe that undergraduates can make and publish beautiful work in a professional forum. We believe in life after love. We don’t really believe in corporate feel-good speak, so we’re going to stop it here. We’re on the hunt for the best in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. Full stop. So send us your best work, polished up nice, and we'll give it the attention it deserves.
To be eligible for publication in our next issue (May 2019), you've got to be enrolled as an undergraduate at any U.S. college or university during any semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. We will accept submissions from Dec. 1, 2018 to Feb. 20, 2019, and it helps us out if you don't wait till the last minute to submit.
Please leave your name off all pages/images. We judge submissions anonymously, so nobody can play favorites.
